I cannot stress enough that in this lifetime when you blink your eyes you’ll lose a year. Somewhere between the ages of 30 and 40 I missed the memo. Maybe the post office missed the letter in-between me moving so much? Who made that rule?
Creatures of habit without even knowing it..
We all have our routines. We work, we live, we eat, we enjoy, we take care of ourselves and our responsibilities as the days move on one by one. As I have always done before [without much conscious thought] I don’t make new years eve resolutions. I believe any resolution you make on the last day of the year, you should live your life always in such a manner. Clearly it’s a goal, something that would make you happy. You can follow the thought process from there. I added a fitness application to my smart phone a few days ago. Thinking I could shed the extra pounds that seem to creep up with every piece of enjoyed holiday fudge.
Fast forward to this afternoon…
I logged onto the application from the laptop instead of the smart phone. What I did not realize was that this application had logged and saved my information from the very first day of use. After poking around online I started running weight statistics and reports. To my shock and surprise, my original date of joining the site was 12/26/2010. I had no idea I’d attempted to use the app that long ago. Then I reviewed the weight last year this time versus this year. If this wasn’t a wake up call I don’t know what else could be.
This post is not about weight, or endurance, or sticking to a healthy lifestyle, or keeping new years eve resolutions. I was in shock not because of the difference in weight, but the date. Where did the year go? What happened this year in my life? Did anything change? Other than getting a year older? Or my pets getting older? I then started making a list of everything that I had experienced in the past year. My home was renovated, my pets are healthier than ever, I have gained one really close friend that I did not have, my professional life has excelled beyond my goal, and I am in a steady and solid growing relationship with an incredibly kind human being.
Where is your list?
This post is not to point out what I have experienced versus what you have. This is your wake up call to find the strength to make positive changes in your life. Our time here is limited. Find peace within yourselves and your lives, and more importantly MAKE the decision to change whatever it is that needs rearranging.
Namaste,
Sonic
